People follow Jesus for a variety of different reasons—to ensure an eternal destiny, to clear a guilty conscious, the excitement of espousing a cause, to please family or friends, to obtain blessings—to name only a few.
But Jesus asks us to follow him because we love him and want to know him more and more intimately. Jesus wants to be more than our champion, our benefactor or our benefits coordinator. Christ wants to be the love of our soul.
