Sunday Prayer

We thank you, God, for the men and women who have helped make this country strong.  They are examples for us, though we often fall short of their example.

We thank you, God, for the torch of Liberty that has been lit in this land.  It has drawn all people together from every nation, though we sometimes hide its light from others.

We thank you, God, for the foundation of faith we have inherited from our founders; it sustains us, though we often show ourselves to be faithless time and time again.

God be with us - Lord help us - in Christ name we pray, amen.
